Nethy Bridge and the Cairngorms National Park

Granite Cottage in the village of Nethy Bridge, is situated in the beautiful Cairngorms National Park where wildlife and outdoor activities abound. Hillwalking and rambling are popular all year round pursuits here and during the winter skiers flock to the slopes of the CairnGorm Mountain Resort.

Nethy Bridge is a particular favourite with bird watchers as it is set amongst the finest native woodland in Britain. Loch Garten with its famous Ospreys is only a short drive away.

Aviemore

The town of Aviemore (11 miles from Nethy Bridge) is well known as a popular all year round holiday centre. It has come a long way from its development in the 1960s and in recent years has undergone something of a reinvention. Skiers and snow boarders find it an ideal base in the winter and there are several good hotels, bars, restaurants and a supermarket.

Events

The biggest annual event in the village is the Abernethy Highland Games, held every year on the second saturday in August. Attracting up to 3500 visitors the games are a truly awe inspiring spectacle with massed pipe bands, parades, athletics, track events, stalls and childrens' activities. Not to be missed!
